Bronx, NY – Yankee Stadium closed our their 2014 year as they hosted an exciting Pinstripe Bowl between Penn State and Boston College. With 49,012 spectators in attendance, Penn State overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat Boston College 31-30 in overtime.
Both teams performances were a reminder of what college football should be about, it’s players and fans. And for that one beautiful day at Yankee Stadium, fans and players were treated to such an experience.
Leading the way for the Nittany Lions was sophomore quarterback, Christian Hackenberg. His 371 passing yards and four-touchdown performance was one that many Penn State supporters will remember for ages. Complimenting his play were his teammates determination to get back into the game after trailing by two touchdowns at one point.
For Boston College supporters, quarterback Tyler Murphy and running back Jonathan Hilliman will be remembered for their valiant effort. Unfortunately for them, kicker Mike Knoll missed extra-point in overtime will also be etched in their memories for many years to come.
